About
Let's Yarn Foundation exists to promote the prevention of mental illness in Australia — specifically depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, and substance use disorders, along with the suicidality closely associated with them.
We do this through free, public, preventative education that addresses the social drivers of these illnesses. Australian and international research consistently links experiences of racism, discrimination, stigma and social isolation to higher rates of psychological distress, depression, anxiety and suicidality. The same research shows that cultural connection, identity, belonging and social support protect against them.
Those drivers can be changed — through understanding, education and connection. That is our work.
What we are
We are a preventative, non-clinical public education charity. Everything we publish and run is free and open to the public.
We are not a crisis service, a counselling service, or a clinical provider. We don't diagnose, treat or provide therapy.
If you need support, our Get Support page lists free services available right now.
